Well, it worked, but only for a short while. Now it's crashing again on startup. Crash log attached.

@benst,

First, thanks for your patience...

Here is a link to the development version https://github.com/downloads/barijaona/vienna-rss/ViennaBeta-Development2808.zip

Its logs are much more verbose. Would you be kind enough to send me the last part of your console log and the crash log when it crashes ? My email : barijaona at gmail dot com

@phloo

Sorry for the inconvenience.
I am afraid the only safe thing is to trash the ~/Library/Application Support/Vienna folder...

I used a backup and switched back to the non-beta version.
What I don't understand is, that, when I delete the Vienna stuff in the library folder, why don't the "messages" re-appear from Google sync?
Don't wanna loose all those articles I still need to read and check (~5000).

Know what I mean?

Not really. The non beta version (2.6) doesn't support Google Reader at all...

I know. Of course I tested first with your version. 1.) deleted the application support folder 2.) started latest built 3.) non of my articles showed up.

Have you tried the "Force Refresh Selected Subscriptions From Google Reader" menu item ?

The work to suppress crashes is progressing : the 2809 build is out.

Has movement ceased on G-Reader sync? I was really looking forward to this feature!

I haven't been able to work a lot on Vienna recently ; but most of it, including Google sync, is usable in the latest beta available on Github.
The latest binary is stable on Intel machines, according to reports. So I encourage you to test it and give some feedback about what you like and what you don't.

Yes, there is still work to do.
For instance, there is an annoyance that I would like to better understand : when the computer goes to sleep and is awaken, Vienna may encounter difficulties reconnecting to Google. Sometimes, you have to quit and relaunch.
The preferences option "Subscribe Local RSS Feeds on Google Reader" is no more relevant, and should be removed from the dialog box.
I would also like to test an alternative implementation for Google authentication, in order to get rid of some redundant classes.

But none of this is crucial or difficult to implement, so a release may not be very far in the future.

I have uploaded a new beta at <https://github.com/ViennaRSS/vienna-rss/downloads>. They are now numbered 3.0b (the latest one is 2816) because a feature like Google Reader support deserves a major version number increase...

I think the beta is stable enough to deserve a little more exposure... I have written about it to a french website, we got an article <http://www.macgeneration.com/news/voir/253252/client-rss-vienna-3-prend-en-charge-google-reader> and the number of downloads increased significantly...

Good to hear (And see!) that you've picked up development again. :)

I'll give the beta a spin.
For Adium issues: Please search the forums and the Trac before posting. This makes the developers very happy! :smt058
Also, check out the Adium wiki, the Adium Team has tried to answer all the questions that might crop up when using Adium there. =)

Google Sync does not appear to be active in the latest beta. If I read a news item in Vienna it still shows up in Google Reader and vice-versa. "Force Refresh Selected Subscriptions From Google Reader" is grayed out for every subscription. How should syncing work?

If the menu item is greyed out, you are probably on a "local" feed (ie one directly fetched by Vienna from its original source, and not trough Google Reader).
Feeds synced with Google Reader have their name prefixed with [G] in the feeds list panel.

If the same feed is at the same time registered with Google Reader and locally in Vienna, the local version will prevail.

If you delete the local version, Vienna will sync with the Google Reader version the next time it asks Google for its subscription list.

Thanks for the tip! That solved part of the problem. Sync is working now, but only in one direction. If I mark an article as read in G-R, it is deleted from Vienna. If I mark an item as read in Vienna, it is still in G-R, even if I refresh G-R. How long of a delay should I expect in syncing between Vienna and G-R?

It should update quickly (a few seconds)... There might have been an authentication or connexion issue somewhere.

If this persists, try to remove the keychain item named 'OAuth2 Vienna: Google Reader' (if you have any) and restart Vienna.

Let me know if the issue is solved.

@jhersco which OS version are your running ?

I just moved to Mountain Lion, and apparently versions build with Xcode 3.2.6 have Keychain problems with the sandboxing daemon... Currently investigating that.

I am running Snow Leopard v10.6.8. Updates in Google Reader remain inconsistent. Also, discovered that using G-R feeds means I can't use Get Info on a subscription to select loading full HTML by default.
