This doesn't seem the same problem, as per Ticket #12480 'Facebook mail notifications can't be turned off' description:

"Since 1.3.5, users have been reporting that they're getting mail notifications for their Facebook accounts, and requesting a way to turn them off."


-I don't have any facebook accounts
-I haven't configured any facebook accounts in Adium ever


Using 1.4b8. image of both alerts below:




Using the "Default Notifications" event preset that has nothing active for "New email notification"

The notification comes up only at startup; when Adium is already active the new email notification is only displayed once as it should be.

Same thing happens with 1.3.5

No scripts or plugins extras

Am I missing some setting to turn off this 2nd notification of the same email?

thanks for your going to such lengths to explain your issue. That makes things easier.

I'm afraid I know of no way to turn off the second notification. This issue has been filed in our bugtracker. Unfortunately, this is a bug in libpurple. See http://trac.adium.im/ticket/11199 for reference.

I just wonder, if we are seeing 2 different types of windows (with and without link buttons), Adium should be receiving different events that trigger one or the other.

Well, if this is coming from libpurple we would have to wait for them to 'fix' that.

Yes. To my surprise this bug hadn't be reported, yet so I filed one: http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/9876. They still need a debug log. If you one of you guys with this problem supplied one I'm sure that would speed things up.

I recently started having the problem described in this thread. I am on Adium 1.3.8 and am running Mac OS 10.6.2 on a new MacBook Pro.

I see that the Adium ticket on this appears to still be open but the Pidgin one is closed.

Any word on whether this is fixed in an upcoming version of Adium?

So, I am now receiving NO notifications of Hotmail messages.

Somehow I'm not sure that's what was supposed to happen, was it?

I have reverted back to Adium 1.4.4.

I hope this issue will be fixed so that MSN users can receive ONE new email notifications for MSN accounts that we are signed into.

At the moment, the options appear to be double notifications at sign-on with 1.4.4 or no notifications at all with 1.5b8.
