Disabling mkv thumbnails

After installing Perian that works with Quicktime X, I noticed that the process "QTKitServer" often hogs the CPU when it is trying to generate a thumbnail for an MKV. Is there any way I can disable MKV thumbnails or do I have to trash the Movie.qlgenerator all together?

I'm interested in improving MKV thumbnails but couldn't think of a way to determine being-a-thumbnailer from inside QTKitServer. So nope, nothing yet.
