need help setting up OTR

Hi,

I need to set up OTR ASAP on my Mac so I can communicate with someone. I read that Adium supports OTR out of the box. Can some kind soul please point me to a page that offers step-by-step instructions on how to configure Adium to do this? I'm guessing I'll have to generate a key, yes?

Apologies if this topic has been covered elsewhere. I searched through the forum and Wiki and didn't find instructions.

Hi,

actually, yes, documentation is lacking in this area.

I believe all you need to do is this:

1. Generate a key – as you rightly mentioned - in Preferences - "Advanced" - "Encryption".
2.
a) Change your account-specific OTR settings in the "Privacy" tabs of your accounts.
b) Edit the contact-specific OTR settings from the "lock" icon in the message window's toolbar.
