Encrypt group chats

I'm a big user of encrypted IM's, both on AIM and GTalk.

One thing that I wish was available was encrypted group chats. I would think this is possible, if all parties had OTR. Is this a possibility?

Not to get too in to the implementation details as I'm not sure exactly how the group chat stuff works, but I'd imagine you could encrypt your messages to all the other parties individually.

Group chat is typically not implemented as multiple 1-1 chats. The message is sent to the server and redistributed from there.

Fair enough, I thought that was probably the case. And of course you don't want to send out the same msg twice, encrypted with both other parties keys, because then each will see both garbage and text.

It would be really nice to have this. If I want to have a multiparty conversation, either it's in the clear or the parties need to be in front of just two computers!

Yeah. I don't see how to do it at the moment, but it someone figures it out that would be awesome

I'd like to know if it is possible by now to have OTR group chats with Adium. I know there have been several related publications:

But the only mentions in relation to Adium were this thread here from 2008 as well as a ticket from 7 years ago: https://trac.adium.im/ticket/5894

Is there any news on Adium support for OTR group chats? If not, what other software that serves that purpose is advisable?
