Multitasking and HD Icon support

Postby alexkrishnan » Fri Jun 25, 2010 2:32 am

Hey devs,

Just curious about the time table for implementing Backgrounding support for super-fast redirects in iOS 4?

Also, it would be sweet if you guys could update the icon for the new Retina Displays.

Thanks for all your hard work!

-Alex

These, and a few other multitasking-enhanced things, will be in the next release expected out by Augustish.

I don't want to push, but how far along are you with the update? It's mid september, and I'm really looking forward to it...

Some pretty crazy work deadlines (I've written ~6000 lines of code in the last week and a half!) have seriously hindered my ability to work on Prowl, but I should be returning to it this week.

Okay, I figured I'd give an update.

Multitasking, HD icon (a new one, in fact ;)), and CoreData-backed notifications are done. Next up on my plate is a different set of graphics for the notifications list, improving redirect, and then I think 1.2 will be good to go. Not a whole lot left, just need to test it now.

That is one long test Zak!
We are not in November and 1.2 is starting to smoke up in vapor :(

I know that putting pressure in a developer is not very useful, but... What happened to this update?

Just been extremely busy. This (school) semester is ending in about 2 weeks, and I should gain a lot more free time to finish this up.

Zak, will iPad full-resolution support be a part of v1.2 update?

No it will not, otherwise it might get delayed forever!

1.3 is planned iPad support, and I've got a little bit of work done in that, but it's not ready for use.

I don't want to sound like a dick but the updates have been so slooow that i have lost all hopes.
I have always been the first to recommend prowl to all my friends and coworkers but now there is a new contender in town.

Zak I'm not sure if you had the time to check Boxcar 4.0 but it literally does more and better than prowl i'm afraid.

The can push almost anything, they have a growl plugin and it does support iPad.

Unless things pick up here is going to be very hard race for you.
