More New Web Site Changes

I scrapped the green layout and went back to the old style but made some significant changes to the layout. Not everything is done yet but I think the changes are going in the right direction. I also took the opportunity to move the site to SourceForge.

When this goes live, I'll set up redirects from the open community site to the new pages.

By moving the site to SourceForge, Jeff and David can now make changes as needed.

I guess I was a non-vocal minority in that I rather liked the green and the new design, but the current look is not bad at all. Thanks for taking all these little mini-projects on, it is much appreciated.

My take is that the large amount of white space on the left is slightly weird. I would do one of the following:


1. Move the download information to the current whitespace area.

2. Center the viewport on the content + download area and allow the plant image to veer off the screen for narrow browser windows.

3. Flip the plant image and place it in the top right corner above the download area instead of where it is now, thus shifting all the page content and header navigation to the left.


But that's just my take. Thanks again for all your work.

Well, I wanted to achieve two things: simplify the site slightly and move it somewhere that Jeff and David can update it. This change accomplishes this. Over time we'll tweak the HTML and the layout and if there's anybody here with solid web editing skills then I'm apply to let them have a go at making the necessary improvements.

(I've another task item to try and get the opencommunity.co.uk domain redirected to the sourceforge web site so I can drop the HTML redirect. If anybody has experience in doing this then I'd appreciate it. I have little nameserver editing skills at the moment.)
