New web site

Postby stevepa » Wed Apr 26, 2006 6:29 am

I'm currently re-doing the Vienna web site. The draft changes can be seen at:

http://www.opencommunity.co.uk/new/index.html

I want to make the site less crowded and simpler. Eventually the main Open Community link will go to the index page so that Vienna has more prominence.

I welcome feedback.

I find it really hard to read the green text, and doubly so the green text in two sizes overlapping.

I'm tweaking it a bit more before it goes live so I'll have something new to preview within a week.

Honestly, I don't like it :-)
The current design is very simple and clear, and very, very nice.

The work in progress you linked to us use a weird green and rollover effect on the button is not so good (not only because of the white on green text).
I can't see the point of using two big green bars on each side of the content.

Oh, by the way, I really hate the blog too :-)

But much important is the software, it is great and I love it :-)

Obviously I'm not a web designer. :-)

Right now I've had enough feedback about the preview that I'm pursuing a middle ground between what I have now and the simplicity of the new site. So I'll have something else to preview within the next week or so.
