Vienna 3.2.0 selected folder - missing text background colour

Postby DutchPeter » Sun Jan 28, 2018 5:16 pm

I've just upgraded to Vienna 3.2.0 (MacOS X 10.9.5)

The first thing I noticed that the textcolour of a selected folder (in the list on the lefthand side in Classic View) is now white.
As that is almost invisible against the background I thought just for a minute that the selected folder name had mysteriously disappeared.

In this case a screenshot tells it all:

In case you're wondering: the name of the selected folder is MacReview.com (between Macdrifter and MacScripter)
It seems I cannot change this. Other than that the new version appears to be not much different from the previous one, based on looks.

Perhaps you could change that textcolour, it really freaks me out a little.

I just installed Vienna 3.2.0 (macOS 10.13.4 beta) and it looks like this when folder is selected:

I think it has always been like this, white text on dark background.

Hmmm, you may well be right.

Perhaps it's not the change of the text colour, but the absence of a text background colour.
Although I open Vienna more than a dozen times every day and scan more than 200 folders, I can't for the life of me remember what it looked like before today's upgrade.

But the absence of a background colour of a selected folder would explain my issue.
I'll amend the topic title

Dutchpeter,

Perhaps you should upgrade to Mac OS X 10.13.x. I have none of these issues.

If you cannot upgrade to the latest OS X, perhaps something else is going on… text preferences? I don’t know, but I’m not having this issue.

As for the Refresh icon, seems okay to me. There’s no "standard" for this - I’ve seen many variations.

Relax….

JSH56, I'd like to think that when an app explicitly supports OS X 10.9, there should be no issues like the one under discussion.
All features should work with all supported OS versions.

Something like this has happened before (see:https://forums.cocoaforge.com/viewtopic.php?t=26957) and could be repaired in s subsequent bugfix release. I'm sure this can also be repaired in the near future with little or no effort.

And upgrading one's OS to merely restore a missing tax background colour in a single app is perhaps a little over the top, don't you think?

I still have a dark gray background on a selected folder (3.2 on Sierra 10.12.6).

Selected with focus on the folders.

What did change is the color of the folder background overall. In 3.1.16 and prior, it's what I would call a very pale blue (R: 222, G: 228, B: 234), while on 3.2 it's a light gray (R: 244, G: 244, B: 244). The light gray provides less contrast to the text, regardless of whether it's selected or not.
