Can't authenticate feed

Postby kyngchaos » Wed May 24, 2017 12:30 am

I recently upgraded my Mac to Sierra. My authenticated feeds broke, they no longer authenticate. I've tried removing the items from my keychain, and Vienna adds them to the keychain, but it can't read the keychain item or it does but something else goes wrong. And I've tried recreating the feeds, no luck.

This worked before the upgrade.

What appears under Activity Window for this feed ?
If you open a new Vienna web tab, are you able to manually log into the same website ?

Activity says no articles in feed, but the feed has a yellow ! badge on it.

The yellow badge is caused by the feed having no articles at all, not by authentication problem

Not to myself : review commit c63ddf22b17d77827ec779268fa376087def176f

Got it fixed. It was the feed server, it didn't ask for HTTP auth. It was an intranet site for my job that I manage, I installed a plugin to make it ask for auth and now Vienna works again.

I wonder if Vienna was using URL auth, then stopped doing that? But the timing isn't right, it happened right after updating to Sierra. Though I updated Vienna around the same time, I tried older versions of Vienna on older OS X systems and could not get it to work. Maybe a combination events (those I remember and other hidden/forgotten events) broke it.
