Re: Tighter Facebook Integration

Best/Worst is relative. I stopped using IM services when I didn't have a computer of my own for a period of time, and this was pre-smartphones as they currently exist. I used Meebo for a while, but the interface just started getting on my nerves. (Pre-Trillian as a service too.) I went back for a wh...

Re: Tighter Facebook Integration

Well.

Lame.

Funny how one of the worst, feature incomplete IM services is the only one I use anymore.

Tighter Facebook Integration

It's always a bummer when I drag an image into an Adium chat window habitually, I see an image, and the user on the other end simply sees a filename. I don't know if Facebook's XMPP server is even proficient even to handle this, especially given that when a user uploads a file/image it says <1 attac...

Re: Prowl 1.2 is now available

Should we maybe start a rolling beta tester thread? Or perhaps a subforum devoted to the task? Re: 1.2.2 #1 You have a bounding box problem with regard to changing text size. If you change it to something bigger, the notification panes overlap. If you change it to something smaller, then you have th...

[...], and I'm also playing with lowering the padding inside the header. And for the record, I have a local build here with the shadows inverted, and it looks great. :) I'm playing with 1.2.2 you posted yesterday, and (1) the padding difference in the message content makes it look uncentered and lo...

Re: Prowl 1.2 is now available

Thinking about how to make Prowlmail a bit more useful given the signature scenario. I'm assuming it's worth zapping signatures, and you can do it in one of two ways: (1) The standard signature design is: "-- " That is, a bare line with dash dash SPACE newline. Start from there, zap every...

Re: Prowl 1.2 is now available

This diagonal gradient in the header? […] because of it's design, the header (Application, event title, time, etc.) grabs my attention and looks like it's the actual content you need to care about, […] Not to even mention that it looks "recessed", where the actual content of the message l...

Re: Feature Request: Repeat notification sounds

Something to consider. iOS default SMS repeat in iOS < 4.3 was to play the sound when an SMS arrives, play it 5 minutes later if un-acknowledged, and and play it again 10 minutes later (that is, 5 minutes after 5 minutes), and then no more audible alerts nor pop-up notifications. Only icon badging a...

Re: Prowl 1.2 is now available

Prowl is Prowl. I can't underestimate how valuable it is in it's design and flexibility. Don't let me dissuade you that there's something wrong with the app overall. But let's talk looks. This diagonal gradient in the header? It's odd, and awkward. Basically, because of it's design, the header (Appl...

Re: Google Maps redirect?

I don't entirely understand your problem, but have a suggestion: Try URL encoding the comma, which is %2C So, your whole URL, try it like this: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=San+Francisco%2C+CA&daddr=LAX%2C+Los+Angeles%2C+CA&hl=en&geocode=FVJmQAIdKAe0-CkhAGkAbZ...

GitHub Notifications

I created a Prowl service hook for GitHub, so commits made to a repository of yours on GitHub (by yourself or an allowed collaborator) will notify you. Note that you can only use this implementation for your own repositories . This is not a repository watcher script. I have a Gist of the output on G...

Re: Feature Request - custom colors, grouped messages

As much as I would love Prowl becoming more NAGIOS-geared, I admit that it's an unnecessarily specific addition to something as wonderfully generic (meaning infinitely extensible) as Prowl.

Methinks this would require an API bump to support.

Re: Twitter Notifications for a Specific List

I don't really have specific details as to your implementation, but I have a theory that PubSubHubbub could be something you could get an "event" from, in order to have a moment in which you could trap and generate a push notification. This would require a persistent server to run and list...

Re: Launchable Application List Requests

Twitterfon is already in the redirect list. In my defense, it wasn't in the first post. In my Devil's Advocate, I didn't bother to look through the list in Prowl itself D=. Regardless, thank you. Ditto for the all too important App Name change (TwitterFon -> EchoFon) :P. As an aside, am I missing s...

Re: Launchable Application List Requests

You should probably try and support as many Twitter clients as possible, as everyone has their preference. I'm currently using TwitterFon and don't have much care/need/want to switch. (And of course, supporting TwitterFon in redirections may mean you need to support TwitterFon AND TwitterFon Pro sep...
